City of Corpus Christi WiFi Projects Project – Small Business Advisory Council
Working with the Small Business Advisory Council (SBAC), comprised of three local chambers, the Council of Governments, the Small Business Development Center, and a number of other small business representatives, the Corporation is assessing local needs and capacity for taking advantage of wireless technology.

A web-based survey conducted by the Corporation indicates that over half of local businesses do not have a web site, do not currently accept credit card payments, and do not have a strategic e-commerce business plan. The Corporation will continue working with the SBAC to identify specific technology and training needs for local businesses, and to develop the first portal projects.

The Corporation staff have met with an international firm to review web applications for membership groups/communities to share information on desktops, including an application for business and vendor partnerships for quick access to available inventories.

Digital Inclusion - A vision of affordable computers, training and computer literacy, locally relevant content, access, community technology centers.
